Bold Text Generator

Type or paste any text and get bold lettering built from Unicode characters, ready to copy into apps that have no bold button. The bold text generator offers five bold styles, is free, and runs in your browser so nothing you type is uploaded.

How to use the bold text generator

The tool converts as you type, so there is no convert button to press.

  1. Type or paste your text into the Input box. The Paste button reads straight from your clipboard.
  2. Read the bold version in the output box as it updates.
  3. Open the Style menu and choose Bold (sans), Bold (serif), Bold italic, Bold script or Bold fraktur.
  4. Click Copy, or Download .txt to save the result as a text file.
  5. Paste it into your bio, caption, message or subject line.

Only the letters a to z and A to Z are changed in every style, and the digits 0 to 9 are changed in two of them. Spaces, punctuation, accented letters, emoji and line breaks pass through untouched, so the shape of your text stays the same.

Five bold styles and what each does to numbers

All five styles come from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block of Unicode, but they do not treat digits the same way.

StyleLettersDigits
Bold (sans), the default๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ฐ ๐—”๐—•๐—–Converted: ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฏ
Bold (serif)๐š๐›๐œ ๐€๐๐‚Converted: ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘
Bold italic๐™–๐™—๐™˜ ๐˜ผ๐˜ฝ๐˜พLeft as 123
Bold script๐“ช๐“ซ๐“ฌ ๐“๐“‘๐“’Left as 123
Bold fraktur๐–†๐–‡๐–ˆ ๐•ฌ๐•ญ๐•ฎLeft as 123

Worked example. The input Cafรฉ 24 off in Bold (sans) gives ๐—–๐—ฎ๐—ณรฉ ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฐ ๐—ผ๐—ณ๐—ณ. The รฉ keeps its normal shape because only the 26 plain Latin letters have a bold form in this tool, so an accented word can end up half bold. In Bold italic the line Sale 24 becomes ๐™Ž๐™–๐™ก๐™š 24, with the number unchanged.

For a slant without extra weight, the italic text generator has its own alphabets, and the Unicode text converter lists every style at once.

Limits to know before you post

The result is not a font. Each letter is a separate character, for example the capital B in Bold (sans) is code point U+1D5D5. That is why it survives copy and paste into plain text fields, and also why it has side effects:

  • Screen readers may announce the letters as mathematical symbols, spell them out or skip them, so keep bold Unicode to a name or a short phrase.
  • Search treats ๐—•๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฑ and Bold as different words, so keep keywords and hashtags in ordinary letters.
  • Every bold letter sits outside the basic Unicode plane, and some platforms count such a letter as two characters toward a limit. Check a tight bio with the character counter.
  • A device without a suitable font may show empty boxes. This is uncommon on current phones and browsers.

Where real formatting is available, use it: WhatsApp bolds text between asterisks and Discord between double asterisks, and both keep the text searchable. To turn bold characters back into plain letters, paste them into Remove Text Formatting.

Putting bold text to work in a bio

Bold works well as a signpost, not a texture. A few habits separate a profile that is easy to scan from one that looks noisy.

  • Bold the label, not the sentence. A bio line that starts with ๐——๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฟ and continues in plain text about where you work reads quickly, because the eye lands on the bold word first.
  • Choose one style and keep it. Mixing sans, serif and fraktur on one profile looks accidental. Bold (sans) matches most app fonts, Bold (serif) suits formal profiles, and Bold script and Bold fraktur are decorative and slower to read.
  • Use capitals sparingly. A bold word in capitals is the loudest thing on the screen, so reserve it for a single item.
  • Test before you publish. Paste the text into a draft and look at it on a phone and on a desktop, because fonts differ between devices.
  • Keep the facts in plain text. Put contact details, prices and opening times in ordinary letters, such as Open daily, so that search engines and screen readers can find them.

A good ratio is one or two bold phrases per post. If everything is bold, nothing stands out.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

The questions people ask most, answered in plain words.

How do I make text bold on Instagram?

Paste your text into the bold text generator, pick a style and copy the result into your bio, caption or comment. Instagram has no bold button, but it accepts the Unicode characters this tool produces. Preview the post first, because a few older devices show boxes instead of letters.

Why are my numbers not bold in some styles?

Only Bold (sans) and Bold (serif) convert digits, because Unicode has bold digits for those two alphabets alone. Bold italic, Bold script and Bold fraktur leave 0 to 9 as ordinary numbers. To get bold numbers inside one of those lines, convert the number separately with Bold (sans).

Is bold Unicode text read properly by screen readers?

Often not. Depending on the software, a screen reader may read each character as a mathematical symbol, spell the letters out or skip them. Use bold Unicode for a short phrase of decoration or emphasis, and keep anything important, such as dates, prices or instructions, in ordinary letters.

Can I turn bold Unicode text back into normal text?

Yes. Paste the bold text into the Remove Text Formatting tool on ToolsWish and it folds the bold letters and digits back to plain characters. Because the original letters were swapped rather than styled, there is no hidden formatting to lose, only different characters to convert back.

Is the bold text generator free and private?

Yes. It is free, needs no account and has no length limit. The conversion runs as JavaScript in your browser, so the text you type is never uploaded or stored, and you can copy or download as many versions as you like.
