How to use the fancy name generator

Styling a name takes a few seconds and works on any phone or computer. The list rebuilds as you type, so you can compare several nicknames quickly.

  1. Type your name or nickname into the input box at the top. Press Paste to bring in text from your clipboard, or Clear to start again.
  2. Look through the list on the right. The first 18 rows are Decorated versions that wrap your name in symbols, and the rows after them restyle the letters themselves, from Bold and Italic to Script, Fraktur, Bubbles, Small caps and Upside down.
  3. Press Copy on the row you like.
  4. Paste it into the profile name, bio, caption, game nickname or chat message where you want it.
  5. If the platform refuses the result, try another row, shorten the name or remove numbers.

Before you type anything, the decorated rows show the word Name and the style rows show Preview text, so you can browse the styles first.

Unicode lookalikes, not fonts: what that means in practice

An app decides which font it uses, so you cannot choose one for a username. The generator replaces each letter with a different Unicode character that happens to look styled. Most styles come from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, which holds complete bold, italic, script, fraktur, double-struck and monospace alphabets meant for maths. Here is how the name Nova comes out in a few rows:

RowResult
Bold๐—ก๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ
Bold script๐“๐“ธ๐“ฟ๐“ช
Fraktur๐”‘๐”ฌ๐”ณ๐”ž
Double struckโ„•๐• ๐•ง๐•’
Bubblesโ“ƒโ“žโ“ฅโ“
Small capsษดแดแด แด€
Decorated 1๊งเผ’Novaเผ’๊ง‚

Some details come from how the tables are built. Italic, Script and Fraktur leave digits as normal numbers, whereas Bold, Double struck, Monospace and Bubbles convert them. Small caps has no Unicode form for Q or X, so those stay as ordinary letters. Decorated rows alternate between plain letters, bold script and bold inside the symbols, which is why the second and third rows look different from the first. The Upside down and Mirror rows swap letters one for one without reversing the order, so for a properly flipped line use the upside down text generator.

Trade-offs to know before you choose a style

Because these are real characters, they copy and paste almost anywhere text is accepted. That convenience comes with costs, and it helps to know them before you put a styled name on a profile you care about.

  • Missing glyphs. The device showing the name needs a font that contains the characters, otherwise it draws boxes. Bold and italic usually work, and rare symbols fail more often, especially in older games.
  • Accessibility. Screen readers may announce each letter as a mathematical symbol, for example "mathematical bold capital N", instead of reading a name.
  • Search and mentions. Searching for Nova will not find a styled name, and people cannot easily type it to mention you.
  • Length limits. Characters from the maths block sit outside the basic range, so a four-letter name such as Nova is eight units long in many systems. A game that allows 12 characters may reject a styled name of six letters.
  • Usernames versus display names. Handles and account IDs on most social platforms accept only plain letters, numbers and a few symbols. Styled text works in display names, bios and captions.

For a single effect rather than a full list, use the bold text generator or the bubble text generator. To invent a nickname first, try the random username generator. The Unicode text converter shows the code points behind any character.

As a rough guide to choosing a row, Bold and Bold serif are the most readable and the safest on older phones. Script and Fraktur look elegant at large sizes but get hard to read in small bios. Fullwidth converts letters, digits and punctuation, and it turns each space into a wide space, so it suits short names rather than sentences. Decorated rows add symbols from several writing systems, which makes them the likeliest to be filtered or drawn as boxes.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

The questions people ask most, answered in plain words.

How do I get a fancy name in Free Fire or PUBG?

Type your nickname here, press Copy on a style you like, then open the game and paste it into the name change field. Games limit length and reject some characters, so if the name is refused, try a shorter version, a different row or a style without symbols.

Why does my fancy name show as boxes or question marks?

The device showing it has no font containing those Unicode characters. Modern phones display most styles, but older systems and some games do not. Bold, italic and script rows are the most widely supported, while rare decorative symbols fail more often.

Can I use a fancy name as my Instagram or TikTok username?

No. The username, the handle after the at sign, accepts only plain letters, numbers and a few symbols such as periods and underscores. Paste the fancy version into the display name or bio field instead, where Unicode styles are normally accepted.

Are fancy names bad for accessibility or search?

They can be. Screen readers may read each styled letter as a mathematical symbol, and searching for the plain name will not find the styled version. Keep a plain-text name in places where being found or understood matters, such as a work profile.

Why is my styled name too long for a game or website?

Many styled letters are stored as two units each instead of one, so a six-letter name can count as twelve against a limit. Choose Small caps, Fullwidth or a Decorated row with fewer symbols, or shorten the name itself.
