Invisible Text Generator

Copy invisible Unicode characters that look like empty space but count as text, for blank messages and empty-looking names. The tool can also hide a secret message inside invisible characters, is free, and runs entirely in your browser.

How to use the invisible text generator

The page has four numbered panels, and most people need only the first two.

  1. In 1. Copy an invisible character, choose a Character from the menu (it starts on the Hangul filler, U+3164) and set How many, from 1 to 5000.
  2. Click Copy invisible text. The chips ×1, ×5, ×10, ×50 and ×500 set the number and copy in a single click. The Copy and Download .txt buttons below the output do the same job.
  3. In 2. Test it, paste into the test box. It reports how many invisible characters it found and their code points, for example U+3164 ×5, so you know the clipboard really holds them.
  4. Paste the characters into the app, game or form where you want a blank.
  5. For a secret message, use 3. Hide a secret message in invisible text and 4. Reveal a hidden message, described below.

If the test box says no invisible characters were found, the app you copied from stripped them.

Eight characters compared

Not every blank behaves the same, which is why the Character menu has eight choices. The first three are the ones people use most.

CharacterWidthWhat to know
Hangul filler U+3164Full-width gapA letter in Unicode, not whitespace, so forms that trim spaces often accept it. The menu labels it as the one that works in WhatsApp, Discord and games.
Zero width space U+200BNoneMakes a field non-empty without any visible gap.
Braille blank U+2800One braille cellA visible-width blank, useful where the Hangul filler is filtered.
Word joiner U+2060, invisible separator U+2063, zero width non-joiner U+200CNoneZero-width formatting characters, tried when the others are refused.
No-break space U+00A0A spaceCounted as whitespace by many programs, so it is trimmed more often.
Hangul choseong filler U+115FVariesA Korean jamo filler whose width depends on the font.

What invisible characters are used for, and their limits

People use them where an app insists a field contains something: a game display name that shows as empty, a nickname or channel spacer, a message that appears blank, or a line break in a bio that the app would otherwise collapse. Typing ordinary spaces fails because most apps trim them, which is the problem these characters solve.

The limits come from the receiving app, not from this tool:

  • Many services trim or filter known invisible characters, and some reject a name made only of them. Try another character from the menu, or put one visible character next to the blank.
  • Rules change over time and differ between games and sites, so no tool can promise that a name will be accepted. Follow the terms of service, and do not use blank names to impersonate or mislead anyone.
  • A chat app may show a small empty bubble rather than nothing.
  • Screen readers announce nothing for these characters, so a blank name is simply silent.

To count what you have copied, use the character counter. To strip the invisible characters the tool knows about from pasted text, use Remove Text Formatting.

Hiding a message in invisible text

Panel 3 turns a short message into zero-width characters. The tool converts your message to bytes, writes each byte as eight bits, and represents every 0 with U+200B and every 1 with U+200C. A message therefore costs eight invisible characters per byte: Hi is two bytes, so 16 characters, and Meet at 6 is nine bytes, so 72. Letters outside plain English, such as é, take two bytes, and an emoji takes four.

Type the Secret message, optionally add a Cover text, and click Create hidden message. The hidden characters are attached to the cover text, shown in the output box, and copied to your clipboard at once. The reader pastes the text into panel 4, Reveal a hidden message, or into the test box in panel 2, and the words appear.

Be realistic about security. This is concealment, not encryption: anyone with a decoder, including this page, can read it. Many platforms also strip zero-width characters, so test the full round trip before you rely on it. The binary code translator shows what the underlying bits look like for ordinary text.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

The questions people ask most, answered in plain words.

How do I get an invisible name in Fortnite or another game?

Copy one Hangul filler character with the invisible text generator and paste it into the name field. Games run their own filters and change them, so acceptance cannot be promised. If the name is rejected, try the Braille blank or add a visible character, and follow the game rules.

How can I send a blank message on WhatsApp?

Click Copy invisible text, paste the characters into the chat box and send. The message shows as an empty-looking bubble if the app keeps the characters. The Hangul filler is the option the tool labels for WhatsApp, and the Zero width space is the next one to try.

Why does the invisible character vanish when I paste it?

The app probably trims whitespace-like characters from the start and end of a field, or filters known invisible ones to prevent blank names. Use the test box to confirm the characters were copied, then try another entry in the Character menu or place a visible character beside them.

Is invisible text the same as a space?

No. A normal space is whitespace, and most apps remove it when it stands alone or sits at the edge of a field. Characters such as the Hangul filler are treated as ordinary letters by many systems, so the field counts as filled even though nothing appears on screen.

How does the hidden message feature work?

Your message is turned into bytes, and each bit becomes one of two zero-width characters that show nothing on screen. Pasting the text into the reveal box returns the words. It hides text from casual readers but is not encryption, and some platforms strip these characters in transit.
