Repeat Text Generator

Copying and pasting a phrase by hand is slow and easy to miscount. The tool does the counting for you.

1. Type or paste the text to repeat into the Input box. It can be one character, an emoji, a word or several paragraphs.
2. Set Repetitions. The default is 3, and the allowed range is 1 to 10,000.
3. Choose a Separator: None, New line, Space or Comma.
4. Read the result in the Repeated text box, which updates at once, then press Copy or Download .txt.

With the text Ha, three repetitions and no separator you get HaHaHa. With the text ab, four repetitions and the comma separator you get ab, ab, ab, ab.

You can also repeat a whole block. Paste three lines into the Input box, set Repetitions to 5 and choose None or New line, and the entire block is copied five times in order, not each line five times in turn. That makes it suitable for building a long test file from a short sample. The tool repeats exactly what is in the box, including leading and trailing spaces, so trim the input first if you do not want them multiplied.

The separator goes between the copies only, never after the last one. Comma inserts a comma and a space, Space a single space, and New line a line break, which puts each copy on its own line. If your input already ends with a line break, the New line option leaves a blank line between copies, so choose None in that case.

The output length is the number of repetitions times the length of the text, plus the separator length times one fewer than the repetitions.

The count is forced into range: anything above 10,000 becomes 10,000, and a blank, zero or negative value becomes 1. Decimals are cut to a whole number. An empty input gives an empty output. The counters under the input describe the input only, so to measure a large result paste it into the character counter. Avoid pressing Use as input on a big result, because the tool would then repeat the repeated text again.

It sounds like a novelty, but a repeater saves real time in several situations.

• Test data. Check how a form, a database field or a layout copes with long input, using a phrase you recognise.
• Dividers. A hyphen or equals sign repeated 40 times with None makes a plain-text rule.
• Spreadsheets and forms. New line gives a column of identical values, and Comma gives a list for a tag field.
• Worksheets. Teachers can print a repeated word or sentence for handwriting practice.
• Chat fun. A string of the same emoji, or a long drawn-out laugh.

Apps have their own length limits. Discord commonly allows about 2,000 characters in one message, Telegram 4,096 and a standard X post 280, though platforms change these, so check the current figure. A long paragraph repeated 10,000 times can reach several megabytes, which some browsers are slow to show, so use Download .txt instead of Copy.

The arithmetic helps when you need a string of an exact size. To test a field that accepts 255 characters, repeat a 10-character word 26 times with None as the separator: that gives 260 characters, five over the limit. For exactly 280 characters, repeat the same word 28 times. Choose a word without spaces so you can see where the field cuts it off.
